Marvel : Could there be a sequel to ‘Black Widow’?

The production faced the age-old dilemma as to why, Black Widow didn’t receive a solo film sooner. The context surrounding the character was interesting enough to be explored individually. Nevertheless, the arrival of the film after Natasha Romanoff’s death. on screen seemed pointless. Especially when Marvel’s Phase 4 seemed much more interested in analyzing and deepening new perspectives on their universe.

The big question was why Black Widow’s story had no real relevance when it could have been significant. Especially when it tangentially touched on the super soldier’s experiments on Russian soil as well as the cruelty of The Red Room. Shortland’s film, despite its good intentions, felt like a rushed glimpse into a larger universe. But it was also an uncomfortable and unappealing tour of a character who deserved a broader look.

All in all – and even with legal litigation in tow – the film became a moderate box office success. Also in introducing characters of considerable interest such as. Yelena, Melina, and The Red Guardian. The question that arises once the premiere proved the story’s potential to the backstory is is Marvel interested in delving deeper into it? There could be several reasons for the studio to greenlight a possible Black Widow sequel despite the death of its lead character.

Yelena, the new face of Marvel

Black Widow’s post-credits scene showed her “sister” Yelena in the middle of a tough situation. Not only was she bidding farewell to Natasha after her heroic death in Vormir but he received a strange invitation.

Valentina Allegra de Fontaine was offering him the chance to take revenge on the man who the scheming agent claimed had caused Natasha’s death. In other words, Clint “Hawkeye” Barton had just become the target of the new Black Widow.

Later, it was confirmed that Yelena’s character would be included within the. cast of the upcoming Disney+ series Hawkeye.. That makes it clear that there will at least be a showdown between Barton and the character. Which indicates that the world of the Black Widows could be expanded. Or at least a good amount of information could be included that would open the door for something more elaborate around The Red Room.

What’s interesting about the above is that it posits that Yelena wouldn’t just be Black Widow’s successor. It’s also a new look at her context. Both the super-soldier serum experiment on Russian soil and the training of the black widows could be the subject of a story of interest. Or at least one that substantially covers Natasha Romanoff’s entire past, this time from the point of view of her “family”.

The Black Widows and their future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

In fact, the newly released Black Widows could also be of cinematic interest to Marvel. At the recent hit Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. there’s even a small cameo from one of them. As Shang-Chi tours Macau’s underground fight club with Jon Jon (Ronny Chieng) he stops in front of a cage fighter.

In it, a character named “Helen” can be seen fighting an enemy. The character, played by Jade Xu, had already been mentioned by Kevin Feige: “One of the widows, Jade Xu, was born in China and is a multiple world champion Wushu fighter. She may even have a brief cameo in a future Marvel movie,” the producer said at a previous event.

Could the universe of the newly freed widows Material for a possible Black Widow sequel? Recently, director Cate Shortland claimed to be open to the possibility of continuing the story. So in all likelihood, the wide, strange and complicated world of Natasha Romanoff will once again be shown on the big screen.
