Kirkwood Community College will be hosting its 10th annual Kirkwood Awards Banquet at the Clarion Hotel on April 13. The theme is Late Night New York. According to Seth Vander Tuig, admissions/student life adviser, the awards banquet is a night to recognize advisers, most active members, sports team MVPs and most memorable events.
Students passing through Sammy's Kafé on March 21 may have heard the sounds of Sacha Sacket resonating through the halls. A native of Los Angeles, the rising musician played songs from his second album, "Shadows" and his soon to be released recording entitled "Lovers and Leaders".
Kirkwood Community College has always had a place for art. The majority of the art on campus is selected by the Art Acquisition Committee (AAC). The AAC was formed in the 1980s and purchases art for Kirkwood. The committee searches for work by local artists in Iowa, particularly in Cedar Rapids and Iowa City.
Ballantyne Auditorium was filled with the sounds of talented Kirkwood Community College students on March 22. Five musical students, after an application and audition process, were invited to take the stage to perform in the Honors Recital that is held every year.
