"Milagro del Dia: The Daily Miracle" is on display in Kirkwood's Iowa Hall Gallery through Nov. 6. The collection contains embroidered quilts, cloth works and photos that reflect the lives of Mexican women. Susan Chrysler White of the University of Iowa assembled the exhibit.
IOWA CITY - With a soulful voice, lyrics full of emotional expression and the smooth sound of a six-string acoustic guitar, Steve Means performed at Guido's Deli on Kirkwood's Iowa City Campus on Oct. 6. A regular performer at his alma mater, Ohio State University, Means makes his living by performing acoustic soul at college campuses all over the United States.
The Cedar Valley Divide, Kirkwood's literary magazine, will be receiving its final submissions this week for the 2010 issue. Deadline is Saturday, Oct. 31. "We always set the deadline for the end of the fall semester and then try to get it out to the students by the end of the spring semester," said Tonja Robins, adviser for The Cedar Valley Divide.
It's not often I see a movie that drops my jaw every 10 to 15 minutes and makes me feel the discomfort and anguish that the characters in the movie are feeling. "Paranormal Activity" is a new horror movie written and directed by Oren Peli, a relatively new blood in the movie business.
