The difference between high school and college for Outstanding Student Brenna Lynch was a matter of focus.

"In high school, I tried a lot of things and in college I became focused," Lynch said.

In her sophomore year at Jefferson High School, Lynch was awarded best performer in prep show choir after not being accepted her freshman year.
As a junior, Lynch became a drum major after a year of color guard. During Lynch's senior year she was the dance team captain, vice president of the thespian troop and an editor for the school's yearbook.

She was even involved in three choirs and was cast in the Theatre Cedar Rapids production of "The Rocky Horror Show."

After high school graduation, Lynch said she has been cast in several musicals for the community theater. She has even been in productions of "South Pacific" and "Little Shop of Horrors" here at Kirkwood.

While at Kirkwood, Lynch has participated in Kirkwood Student Productions (KSP) and has also been a writer for the Kirkwood Communiqué.

Lynch has been involved in Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and KAPS at Kirkwood. She has also been a Student Ambassador for Kirkwood since her enrollment.

"Brenna Lynch has done an outstanding job representing the Kirkwood Ambassadors since her time here at Kirkwood," said Director of Admissions and Student Life Douglas Bannon.

Lynch will graduate this May from Kirkwood's Communication Media/PR program with an Associate of Arts degree.

This summer Lynch will begin her internship at KWWL Channel 7 in Cedar Rapids. If the internship goes well she said she will try to get a job at the Waterloo station.

Lynch plans to attend Wartburg College in Waverly in the fall. She plans to major in Electronic Media and Public Relations.

When Lynch moves to Waverly it will be the first time she's lived on her own.

"Most people at Kirkwood are already living on their own but it's different for me. I'm still living with Mommy and Daddy," she said.

Lynch'es major influences in her life she said, have been her parents.
