Kirkwood Heights, College Park Apartments, Miller Avenue Estates, Eagle Circle Dorms and Woodland Square are the other near-campus housing apartments available.
Housing Coordinator Josh Troutman said there are many advantages to living near campus. "Overall, students living on campus are more involved in activities near campus compared to students living off campus," said Troutman. "There is better retention in graduation rates."
Some students, particularly returning students, may be considering a rental house. For some, cheaper rent is a determining factor. Renting a four bedroom house for $650 to $700 per month with four roommates may be desirable.
College students looking for more living space or less restrictions look into off campus housing versus apartment living, said LAN Management major Adam Ohler.
"Spacious house living and just having a house would make things fun," said Ohler.
"There isn't security walking around," said Justin Vaske, a KCC student who lives off campus with three other males. "Rent for house living may be cheaper when living with three other guys. There might be more utilities to pay but I find that house living gives you a lot more freedom,"
For information on any of the apartment complexes near Kirkwood or general questions about housing, students may call Josh Troutman (319) 398 - 5596 or send e-mail to josh.troutman@kirkwood.edu.
