Local living arrangements nearby campus range in cost from $225 to $375 per month depending on the duration of the lease. For many, this may be an opportunity to meet people in contrast to living off-campus.
Every privately-owned student housing complex has its own specifications influencing the price range in each complex. Here is a basic break down of the housing options offered near the Kirkwood main campus.
The Kirkwood Courts offer two to three bedroom apartments, with heat and water paid. A security deposit of $350 per person is required. Costs vary depending on the situation of the leasing agreement and the number of bedrooms. For example, a 10-month lease for a two bedroom is $305 compared to a 12-month lease costing $265 per month. The Courts are within walking distance of the campus.
Another option for housing is the Kirkwood Dorms. These four bedroom apartments consist of an open kitchen and two bathrooms, with heat and water already paid. A nine-month lease is $235 per month and $175 for 12 months.
Kirkwood's Snyder Complex offers students "home-style" housing. This two-story complex is furnished, has five bedrooms and only offers 12-month leases. The lower level has a laundry room and the kitchen is upstairs. A $600 security deposit and rent at $300 per month provide students with a one-car garage all within walking distance to campus.
The newest housing available to students includes Kirkwood Village and Towers. Both consist of four bedrooms including free expanded basic cable and high-speed internet. Other features include a washer, dryer and microwave in each unit. A security deposit of $300 per person is required and rent ranges from $325 to $375 a month per person depending on the leasing agreement.
