If the life inside your apartment is boring or lifeless, a low maintenance and comforting pet may be just what you need to spice up an uneventful day at your home away from home.
Before you go out and buy yourself a new companion you should take a look at a few of the suggestions listed.
For starters it might be a good idea if you check with the owners of your apartment to make sure that a pet is allowed. If it is allowable, you may want to decide how much time every day you will be able to take care of your pet.
Petco.com, Petsmart.com and happypets.addr.com suggest these times as a minimum for time to spend with your pet.
For a dog it is recommended that you walk them for 10 to 15 minutes twice a day, for cats play with them 10 to 15 minutes three times a day.
A bird on the other hand will require several hours of attention a day or it will continue to chirp until you pay enough attention to it. A reptile will need to be fed as much as it can eat in a 30-minute time frame. A fish will need around five minutes of attention twice a day.
So if you're looking for an animal that you can go out and play with, your best bet would be to enjoy your outdoor experience with a cat or a dog.
But if you feel like you are rushing all the time you might consider a reptile or a fish for your perfect live-in companion.
