The members of Florida legislature that voted to remove Terri's feeding tube and Michael Shiavo should be put on trial for assisted suicide, euthanasia, murder or whatever name you want to give it.
If their trials go as well as Kevorkian's, they'll only get 10-25 years in prison with a chance for parole in six years, at least their lives wont be taken from them as if they were no longer worth anything as a human.
Terri should have been allowed to live under the custody of her real family, her parents, who were more than willing to take over the responsibilities of caring for her if they were given the chance.
Michael Schiavo didn't say that his wife wanted to die until after he was awarded a $1 million settlement from a malpractice case.
This is interesting. All of a sudden he sees a chance for an easier life and starts to see his once loving and caring wife as an inconvenience, a burden on his own life. It was just easier for him to strip her of her defenseless life so he can go on with his.
Her parents are fighting for possession of her corpse so she can be buried. In contrast, not only did he let his wife die a slow and torturous death, he immediately wants her body cremated. This is also interesting seeing how there are questions arising about his involvement in Terri's current conditions. Is he just destroying the evidence? Why wouldn't he want her to have an MRI and clear his name, what is there to hide?
My heart goes out to the Schindler family. They have endured and struggled for 15 years now fighting for their daughter's right to live. They never gave up hope that God would save her or that a medical breakthrough could bring her back to functioning normally.
The Schindlers showed more love, courage and devotion over a 15 year period for their daughter than most parents get to show to a child that gets a full life.
God bless Bob and Mary Schindler. I hope you find as much peace in Terri's death as you had courage in her life.
