September is an exhilarating month for students. Finalizing schedules and getting into the groove of classes may be most important, but one shouldn't overlook the events that will take place in entertainment.

Eleventh-ranked Iowa opens up their Big Ten schedule on the road against sixth-ranked Ohio State on Sept. 24. This will be one of the biggest games in the battle for the Big Ten title.

Iowa natives Towncrier bring their rock show to downtown Cedar Rapids with a performance at Muddy Waters on Sept. 17. Led by Cedar Rapids-native Jerry Lorenson, Towncrier draws their influences from a wide variety of bands including U2, Guster, Counting Crows and their labelmates, The Nadas. Tickets are $5 and will only be available the night of the show.

Some artists struggle to come up with a new album every two years. However, Alt-troubadour Ryan Adams is about to release his second album just this year. Jacksonville City Nights, to be released Sept. 27, follows his May release of the double album Cold Roses and features a duet with Norah Jones.

The women of Wisteria Lane are back for the second season of Desperate Housewives, one of television's top rated shows, premiering Sept. 25 on ABC. So many questions remain unanswered. What happened to Mike when he returned home? What will Carlos do now that he knows about John and his wife?

Hot off their appearance on this summer's Warped Tour and having just released their second CD, One Fell Swoop, South Dakota-based rockers The Spill Canvas will be at Gabe's Oasis in Iowa City on Sept. 28. Tickets are $9 and can be purchased at Gabe's Oasis or online at www.ticketweb.com.

One of television's most popular comedies and winner of five Emmy's, Arrested Development, returns for its third season Monday, Sept. 19. Expect to see Oscar winner Charlize Theron enter the lives of the Bluth family for five episodes.

British import Sacha Baron Cohen returns with his wickedly funny alter egos Ali G, Borat and Bruno for this DVD release on Sept. 13. Watch as he ponders Iraq's possession of "BLT's" with ultra-conservative Pat Buchanan and much more.
