For years, citizens and politicians alike have complained about America's dependence on foreign sources of oil. Shortages in the 1970s and a historically unbalanced Middle East have given Americans reasons to worry. Hurricane Katrina's destructive force has further crippled the American energy situation by neutralizing domestic production and refining capabilities.
Politics should stop at the water's edge when it comes to the United States Supreme Court. Politics shouldn't even be an issue. With the death of Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist, a second seat on the Supreme Court opened.
It wasn't until after I graduated in 1983 that I learned how getting involved in professional organizations would advance my career.
