On Sept. 29, Kirkwood had its monthly board meeting at Kirkwood Hall. The meeting began at 4:30 p.m. and ended around 6 p.m.
After roll call, the meeting began with a Kirkwood report given by board member Steve Carpenter.
In the report, Carpenter said Wal-Mart donated money towards the Lincoln Center.
Members of the Vocational Individualized Training and Learning (VITAL) spoke out at the meeting.
VITAL is a one-year program that aids students in becoming better college students. At the board meeting, three VITAL members spoke about their feelings and thoughts about the program.
"[VITAL] helps students learn to prepare for tests, take notes, and other college survival skills. It has helped me out a lot," said member Nick Gordon.
The board also approved the final Industrial New Jobs Training agreement with Red Star Yeast Company and Rockwell Collins.
The next board meeting is slated for Oct. 13 at 4:30 p.m. in Kirkwood Hall.
