Coffee Talk Café is the perfect place for any college student. Located on the corner of Kirkwood Boulevard and Kirkwood Court, the café opened the first week of October.

Owners Buzzy and Sheree Castonguay said their initial intent was to provide a relaxing and fun atmosphere for students looking for a place to enjoy a warm cup of joe, a small bite to eat, a quiet study area or maybe just place to lounge and watch TV.

Any student who brings in an EagleCard will receive a 10 percent discount on all snacks, including specialty coffees and Panini-grilled sandwiches.
The café also has a variety of non-coffee-based drinks such as herbal tea and fruit smoothies. Food items include sandwiches, soups, salads, numerous sweets and healthy breakfast items.

When asked how the couple came up with the idea for a café in the area, Sheree said that she worked in cafés in Oregon where they were practically on every street corner in their hometown.

"We want to offer a unique experience and a fun, comfortable space," Buzzy stated.

The café is also hiring. Right now all five employees are Kirkwood students and the Castonguays encourages more to apply.

Employee Andy Ausdemore said the café has a "fun atmosphere" and he enjoys his work there.

Like many college students, Ausdemore's availability changes throughout the week but the owners work around his schedule to give him the hours he wants. He said he'd never worked in a café before but the training didn't take long and it was easy to learn to make drinks.

Ausdemore said the café has "good food, good drinks and is stress free."
For an excellent drink, Ausdemore recommends either a caramel frappi or a frozen hot chocolate.

All drinks at Coffee Talk Café come topped with a Hershey's kiss.

"Everybody likes a little bit of chocolate. It adds just an extra little touch," Buzzy said.

The couple wants customers to notice and appreciate the little details they offer and believe they'll keep coming back.

Even the bathrooms are designed to please. The women's room has a fresh scent and is very feminine. While primping at the large mirror, one may notice the stand that holds Bath and Body Works hand lotions, deodorant and hairspray.

The men's room has a daily sports page posted. It also includes Bath and Body Works products for men and Axe for those who like sporting a good scent.

The café's business hours accommodate nearly any student. The business opens at 6 a.m. and closes at 10 p.m. except on Fridays and Saturdays when it closes at 11 p.m.
