Cirque Dreams, a dreamscape performed by a multinational group of entertainers, filled the stage at the Paramount Theatre on Oct. 24 with optic euphoria bolstered by an ethereal aural barrage.
The performance was a masterpiece unequalled by anything this area has seen in years with mystical creatures framing an artist performing mind-blowing stunts or acts.
The transitions were so smooth they were virtually undetectable, making the show absolutely seamless. A pair of contortionist twins twisted themselves like pretzels and rolled into little balls the backward way. Strong men hoisted each other into towers with the utmost apparent ease and suspended themselves as if gravity wasn't a factor; they were only a glimpse of what is contained inside this wonderful suspended dream state.
All participants in this production exuded masterful experience in their craft. Even the acts that incorporated members of the audience were as if planned, yet not a word was ever spoken. These mime-like characters, comprised almost entirely of non-English speaking actors, used only body language to convey their message; they were not misunderstood.
This production was a perpetual evocation of jaw-dropping emotional excitement, captivating the crowd with disbelief. As if sleeping and dreaming, the show was over seemingly instantaneously, yet nearly two hours had passed.
