"I believe this will be a good year. We have a good variety of plays. I am very excited for them all," said Chad Hackenmiller, Theatre major, about the Kirkwood Community College's upcoming drama schedules.
Coming soon to Ballantyne Auditorium is the classic musical "Jekyll and Hyde." The play is scheduled to run on two weekends, Oct. 26-28 and Nov. 2-4. Times have not yet been announced. Tickets for this event are free to all Kirkwood students and staff and can be picked up at Student Life located in Iowa Hall.
Coming later this year in the theatre department is "Picnic," a play by William Inge, and "Stop, Kiss," a comedy about the way life stops and goes. Auditions for "Picnic" begin in November and "Stop, Kiss" auditions will be held in February.
In addition to the theatre productions, a number of concerts will also be conducted at Kirkwood during the fall semester.
On Sept. 29, the first blues concert of the year comes to Ballantyne Auditorium. The featured acts are Ernie Peniston and the Cedar Rapids Big Jazz Band. The event will also feature local talent with the KCC Jazz Ensembles and Combos under the direction of Dr. Tim Feldkamp.
The fall Jazz Concert will take place on Nov. 11. The show will feature artist Sonny Fortune and will welcome back the CR Jazz Band. The event is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in Ballantyne Auditorium.
Also, the Vocal Jazz Concert will perform on Nov. 17.
