The main character is one of the most infamous slashers in cinema history.  The director has taken the shock rock music genre to a different level. Together they take a classic and make it comparable, if not better, than the original.

Rob Zombie's "Halloween" stars Malcolm McDowell as Dr. Samuel Loomis, Sherri Moon Zombie as Deborah Myers, Daeg Farech as Young Michael Myers and Tyler Maine as the older Michael Myers. The cast also includes Zombie film alums Sid Haig, Bill Mosley and William Forsythe. The film is a re-invention of John Carpenters 1978 scream and gore-filled classic.

The story begins in Haddonfield, Ill. on Halloween. Young Michael has a loving mother, played brilliantly by Sherri Zombie, and an infant sister Boo but a stepfather and sister that constantly ridicule and torment him. This leads to a less then desirable home life for the young Myers.

As the story continues Michael gets tormented at school, which leads to the school making a disturbing revelation about Michael and bringing in Dr. Samuel Loomis to help him with his increasing rage; however, it is too late as he begins his first murderous Halloween killing spree.

Years go by and Michael has no surviving family members left due to his first killing spree and other circumstances. This sends him over the edge and causes Dr. Loomis to give up hope, sending Michael to prison for his crimes instead of trying to cure him.

However during the transfer Michael escapes leaving several dead bodies in his path. He makes his way to Haddonfield for a Halloween night showdown with Laurie Strode, played by Scout- Taylor Compton, a teenager with a connection to Michael that fans of the original will remember.

The film is an excellent take on the original. It includes a back-story on how Myers became a brutal killer with no remorse, something the original lacked. What makes this film on par with the original is that it targets hardcore gore fans and common horror film fans alike.

The final piece that makes the film an amazing remake is that while Zombie makes it his own film he does not deviate away from what made the original one of the best horror films of all time, an excellent plot with superb acting and beautiful camera angels.

For once there is a remake that compares to the original. My suggestion is moviegoers should take full advantage of the film and see it in theaters.
