It is a tool that has been used by students everywhere and it's currently sweeping the nation.

No, it's not Windows Vista. It's Facebook. For those of you who don't know what it is, Facebook is similar to MySpace.

Both are places where you can post pictures and leave comments on individuals' "walls." You can also write your interests, join different groups and you can even plan events.

And if that isn't enough, you can also buy and sell stuff. You can even send gifts to people and find others who share your similar interests.

They are both online sites that make it easier for people from all over the world to connect.

From middle school to graduate school, everyone is using these sites to interact with one another.

I feel that Facebook is harmless and sometimes necessary to school survival.

Anyone and everyone uses Facebook these days. It is a simple and fun way to meet people.

Despite its great success, Facebook has caused a huge problem with businesses around the world. Many of these companies have even found Facebook to be a nuisance to its employees when they're on the job.

According to a post on nevillehobson.com, several banks and law firms have put their foot down on employees "checking their Facebook."

Some businesses have even gone as far as firing employees because they use it too much.

For example, Tesltra, a large telecommunications company in Australia, has banned the use of Facebook to its 49,000 employees.

According to a recent survey, approximatly 50 percent of U.S. workers are blocked from accessing Facebook on their work computers.

In a recent poll of 600 workers, 43 percent said their company was blocking access to these social Web sites.

Hopefully one day these companies will see the big picture: Facebook is here to help you, not to hurt you.
