Located on the second floor of Iowa Hall, Sammy's Kafé is open Monday-Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., and in addition Monday-Thursday it is also open from 4:30 to 6 p.m.
Sammy's offers a wide variety of food choices. Several pizza selections can be found, along with an all-you-can-stack salad bar. Also at the salad bar are daily soup selections.
Customers can also get made to order deli sandwiches. Several types of breads, meats, cheese, fresh vegetables and condiments can be selected for custom sandwiches.
Sammy's also features hot-off-the-grill burgers and chicken sandwiches daily. French fries, with or without cheese sauce, are also available at the grill.
At least two hot entrées are offered daily. The entrées and sides change daily.
Also, daily lunch specials are featured along with homemade desserts.
There are also some new features at Sammy's this year. The West dining room has been opened for students and deli sandwiches are now being served in the Linn Hall lobby during the lunch hour.
"We want to make things fast and efficient," stated Marlene Wilson, food service supervisor. "We want to serve 99 percent of the students."
Sammy's also offers meal plans for students. Meal plans are separate from the money that students may have on their EagleCard. The most common meal plan is the 4 for $5 deal. This means students can get four items, including one entrée, for $5. Students can also purchase 12 meals for $60, 24 meals for $120, 36 meals for $180 and 48 meals for $240.
"I like the variety Sammy's Kafé has to offer," said Jon Willoughby, Computer Support Specialist major. "I eat there about twice a week."
