The Kirkwood Community College softball team started the fall season from scratch.
After losing seven sophomores from last year's team and gaining Joe Yegge as their new head coach, the Eagles have battled through a tough fall season playing top competition. The Eagles currently have six wins and 10 loses.
"We have played a very tough schedule, ranging form the top junior colleges in the area to big division one schools," said Yegge.
Although the Eagles have not posted a winning season this fall, Coach Yegge is happy with the team. "It has given us a chance to see what we can do against our level of competition and it showed the players what it takes to play at the top level," he said.
A fall season was especially important to this year's squad because the first time Yegge saw his players in action was the first day of practice.
"The fall is always good to have because it gives the coaches and players a chance to get to know each other and learn all the different personalities. That way when it comes to the spring we know and trust each other."
The Eagles will resume play again in March for their regular season.
