It's Friday night around 8. and there's nothing to do. The mall will be closing in an hour and it's too cold to be outside. College students may think they don't have many options.

Planet X, located at 255 Collins Road NE, next to Lindale Mall, offers students safe and affordable activities throughout the school year. The indoor entertainment facility offers an array of activities ranging from space ball to bumper cars. There is also a mini golf course and laser tag.

"Planet X is a nice alternative to the bar scene," Cameron Full, manager at Planet X, said.

Prices range from $13 to about $30, depending on how much time is spent there and what activities are purchased. Two-for-one specials vary but are offered every day of the week.

"More college students come than you would expect," Full said. "Every once in a while it provides a nice environment [for students]."

Planet X has nearly a full-service restaurant and provides a smoke free social environment.

"It's a different kind of social interaction," Full said. "Most of the activities require a partner, they're not things you do alone."
