With fall semester reaching the halfway point, students may be thinking about the classes they will take in the spring.

Spring classes are currently on EagleNet and printed schedules will be available Oct. 31. Priority registration for the spring semester will be Nov. 26-30. In order to have the best selection of courses and be prepared, students are urged to take advantage of priority registration.

Before registering for any classes, students should meet with their academic adviser. Laura Riley, coordinator of advising and transfer center, stated, "Taking the advice of friends, siblings and parents is a wonderful idea but it is wise to verify that advice with your adviser."

Students unsure of who their adviser is should log on to EagleNet and click "My Profile." Below the academic profile will be the adviser's name, e-mail and phone number.

Riley said students should meet with their adviser each semester before registration begins. This will ensure that students select appropriate classes to fulfill their degree and/or transfer requirements.

"Planning for next semester should not be something you delay. Students should be seeking out the assistance of their adviser now," said Riley.

She added that students who expect to graduate should confirm with their adviser that they have met all requirements. Those students also need to apply for graduation at this time. The deadline for graduation was Sept. 1 but students can still apply and have their degree granted.

For students who plan to transfer to a four-year college and need assistance, stop in the Advising and Transfer Center in room 108 Iowa Hall.

Students who have questions about registering for spring classes or graduation should contact their adviser, the Student Development office in room 115 Iowa Hall or call 398-5471.
