Imagine waking up and getting into the shower before your 9 a.m. class only to find that the water is brown. Diet Coke brown. Disgusting right? Not only has this happened recently but other maintenance issues have occurred at the Kirkwood Courts complexes as well.

The managing offices of these complexes do a decent job communicating with the tenants about upcoming maintenance jobs but do not specify what the jobs will be.

Although there is miscommunication between the tenants and the managing office, they are extraordinarily professional with their business and are always there to help with tenant needs. However, that doesn't solve the problems that are occurring at these complexes.

There are many new and old apartment complexes surrounding the campus that are being worked on by maintenance crews. Often when problems come up the maintenance crews do fix the problems but it takes days to see results. It's not the crew's job to communicate with the tenants but they should give students more warning when doing a task like shutting off the electricity.

Students become frustrated with these issues and many students worry if they are going to have hot water by the end of the day or if the electricity is going to shut off while they are cooking or doing homework.

Many Kirkwood students and current residents of Kirkwood Courts apartments feel that the management is one sided on issues concerning the apartments. Management leaves notes on doors saying that certain interruptions will take place throughout the day pertaining to the water, electricity, heat, etc. but do not describe what the problem is or how long it will take. These issues are dilemmas that students do not have the time to deal with.

Now that the winter season is approaching, tenants are starting to worry that there will be more problems that surface along with the recent issues that are still on going.

Students pay around $300 a month for rent and feel like they are being taking advantage of because certain necessities in their apartment are constantly being worked on.

Students believe that these issues will never be solved unless management starts to communicate with the tenants about what's going on in the complexes.
