Let's face it. After books, tuition and rent, college students can barely afford dinner. Just because there is little money to spend doesn't mean there aren't gifts students can give their family and friends for the holidays.
For the ones on their list who love music, students can make a mixed CD of all of their favorite songs. This is especially popular with parents who haven't heard some of their favorite songs in awhile. Music is inexpensive and easy to download so spend a few bucks on some classic tunes everyone will love.
For those who are sentimental, students could make a photo collage or turn a regular photo into a work of art. It's easy to turn favorite pictures into black and white or sepia tone. Pair the photo with a bold frame and write a special message on the back of the frame reminding them of who made the gift. To make a collage, buy an 8 x 10 frame and find a few good photos and favorite quotes to place inside of it.
For students who like to cook, an easy gift to give is a goody basket. Fill a cheap basket up with cookies, cakes and candies. The recipients can take the basket to other holiday parties or share with family and friends.
For students who have parents who travel frequently, give them a gift they can use all year long. Get a small toiletry bag and buy little shampoos, shaving creams and body wash bottles to place inside. Pair it with their favorite lip balm or lotion.
If a student and their friends have a special place they go to have coffee a few times a week, stop in to see if they have mugs for sale with the name of the coffeehouse on it. Fill the mug up with some cookies or candy
"College students really kinda need to shop on a budget. If we don't we'll all be broke." said Matt Monroe, business/marketing major. For those shopping on a budget, reasonable yet original gifts can be tricky to find. However with these creative gift ideas, holiday shopping should be made a little easier.
