Students looking for some extra cash this holiday season are in luck. There are several local businesses looking for people to help out with the shopping rush that floods stores every year. Starting in the middle of November and lasting through middle of January the holiday shopping is at its highest.
The craze began on black Friday. The stores in Cedar Rapids opened as early as 4 a.m. and the line of people outside Best Buy was long enough to reach the Lindale parking lot.
Every weekend until New Years the stores will be packed full of people attempting to finish their holiday shopping.
"Target is hiring for day and night. Any full time worker would get 45-50 hours part time is 20-35 hours," said Rich Durroughs, night stocker at Target on Blairs Ferry Road. "A lot of the seasonal help they get are college students from Kirkwood. Around Jan.1 they keep all the people that did a great job during the holidays."
Most places that hire seasonal help try to hire about 20-30 extra people around this time of year. For students looking to earn a little extra cash for the holidays, seasonal work is something to consider.
