On Nov. 30 the college and members of the community welcomed the Republican candidate to Ballantyne auditorium. Romney addressed his support of the war, No Child Left Behind and tax cuts.
When asked about his military plans, the presidential hopeful assured the audience that he will provide greater military strength.
"I intend on adding additional troops and spending more money on the war," he said.
Romney said that the U.S. is too dependant on foreign oil and that he has an energy policy to get the country off foreign oil.
The governor promised to cut back on spending and not to raise taxes. "Washington is spending too much money. Being more economically efficient is key," said Romney.
He said he is committed to ensuring that every household with an income of $200,000 or less would not have to pay any taxes. He also said that he would end the death tax.
Romney also supports the No Child Left Behind Act and said he feels that the U.S. is still leaving children behind.
He also said he believes that American family values need to be strengthened and that to do this there needs to be a law that states marriage is only allowed between a man and a woman.
The governor said that despite what many people believe, he welcomes legal immigrants. "It's illegal immigration that I am strongly opposed to," said Romney.
