Families are an aspect of life most cherish, treasure and value. They are there to cheer us on and there to pick us up when we are down. However, one family has become the pure epitome of dysfunction.

For the past two months the Spears family has dominated entertainment headlines. From Britney's parental mishaps, mental breakdowns and achieving new levels of skank-dom to Jamie Lynn's new role of being a mother at the age of 16. The fact is this family has become the ultimate poster family of dysfunction. Some people may claim the entertainment world has caused the Spears sisters to fall apart. I take a different approach.

First, let's look at how Britney's career started. She came into homes and the minds of teenage boys everywhere by wearing a Catholic schoolgirl outfit and dancing into male fantasies. Then the years went by and to cut a long story short the clothes got smaller, certain body parts got bigger and talent went down. But that did not matter because some how Britney was liberating women by acting like a stripper. Wow, what a role model. Then she met a backup dancer and married him.

It seemed Britney was destined for happiness but after several parenting mishaps such as changing her child's diaper on the floor of Victoria's Secret among various others, hubby Kevin "K-fed" Federline decided it was time to call it quits and move on with the couple's two children in tow. Let's shift to the matriarch of the Spears family, Lynn Spears. This woman has done it all from being court ordered from her grandchildren's lives, to questioning Britney's parenting abilities in public and the final straw, allegedly selling the story of her daughter's pregnancy for $1 million to an entertainment magazine. Now that is mother of the year material.

The best part is Lynn was scheduled to release a parenting book. Was she actually going to teach American mothers how to raise their daughters into mental midgets and 16 year old mothers? The final fact is Jamie Lynn's pregnancy is the most normal thing to happen to this family. The fact that she is only 16 means nothing. This family's downfall is not sad, it is amusing because the writing has always been on the wall. We have just been too blind to see it.
