Eagle women topple No.1 and men win in overtime on Jan. 30

The women started the night by knocking off the top ranked Tritons, 64-40. Breann Hill led the Eagles with 15 points. Allie Lindemann chipped in 12 points and Lauren Thomas-Johnson added 10.
Before this Iowa Community College Athletic Conference showdown, the Tritons were a perfect 20-0. The Eagle defense held the Tritons to shooting just 33 percent from the field.
The Eagle men bounced back from an eight-point deficit to defeat Iowa Central, 67-65 in an overtime thriller.
The Eagles were led by sophomore Ali Farokhmanesh who scored a game high 18 points, including a three pointer with 14.9 seconds left. Farokhmanesh then hit one of two free throws with 4.7 seconds left in overtime to put the Eagles ahead for good.
Sophomore Corey Viet also came up big for the Eagles, scoring 17 points and taking a charge with less than 10 seconds left in overtime.
The Eagle women moved to No. 3 on the NJCAA Division II poll from No. 9 after defeating Iowa Central. The Eagle men are still ranked No. 2 on the NJCAA Division II poll.
The Eagle women start their quest to the national tournament on March 4.
The men start regional tournament play on March 1 in Estherville.
