On Feb. 29 Kirkwood Community College's own version of Project Runway will premiere.
"There will be four student designers and also local stores that will be showcasing their outfits," said Heidi Reeder, apparel merchandising/marketing management major.
The show, which will last approximately 45 minutes, is expected to be unique and will feature local models. "Kirkwood students and friends of the designers will be modeling the clothes," said Reeder.
According to Reeder, the process leading up to the show is intense. "We started designing at the beginning of the semester. We have class three times a week for two hours. I'm excited to see the finished product since we've worked so hard," said Reeder.
She added that there is additional work to be done on the day of the show. "It takes a few hours to get ready for a show. You have to worry about the lighting, music, hair, makeup-everything," said Reeder
Doors for the show open Friday, Feb. 29 at 7 p.m. and start time is 7:30 p.m. The show will be held in the conference room in the new Continuing Education building. Reeder said everyone is invited and the event is free to the public. Raffle tickets will be sold for $1 each and door prizes will be awarded throughout the night.
