Student Life rolls out red carpet

Students will have the opportunity to walk down the red carpet later this month without the expense of traveling to Hollywood.
Kirkwood Community College Student Life will be hosting the 11th annual spring awards banquet on April 11. "A Night on the Red Carpet" will be held at the Clarion Hotel with social hour starting at 6:30 p.m.
A dinner will follow at 7 p.m. along with the awards ceremony at 8 p.m. and dance from 9 p.m. to midnight.
A committee of seven students and three faculty members selected the award categories and theme.
The awards will resemble Oscars and a red carpet will be laid out for students.
Ten adviser and coach awards will be presented as well as 25-30 student awards with various door prizes given throughout the night.
Other students at Kirkwood, such as those in the floriculture department have aslo helped out.
"The floriculture students will be making our entry way this year like they have in previous years, said Lindsey Aldrich, Liberal Arts major.
Also, starting at noon on the day of the banquet, members of the (Kirkwood Activities Program and Services KAPS) and other Kirkwood faculty will help set up the banquet room.
"The evening is a formal event where the ladies wear nice dresses and nice outfits and the men put on their suits and ties and get ready to have a great time with their friends," stated Aldrich.
