Kirkwood Community College President Mick Starcevich's daughter, Shelly, was killed in an accident on Kirkwood Boulevard this morning. She was driving her personal vehicle, a John Deere "gator," while en route to her job at College Community Schools, when she was involved in a collision with a vehicle. Emergency workers tried to resuscitate her but were unable to do so.

Little else is known of the details of the incident. The Cedar Rapids Police Department is handling the situation.

Students, staff and faculty who would like counseling support in the wake of today's tragic event can call Student Development at ext. 5471 or stop by 115 Iowa Hall.
