Sophomore men's basketball player Ali Farokhmanesh has been named first team All-American by the NJCAA. Farokhmanesh, an Iowa City native, provided a spark for the Eagles this season at the point guard position.

"He is obviously a talented player that can put up statistics but beyond that, he is a tireless worker and very competitive. He truly wants himself and his team to be the best they can be," Coach Doug Wagemester said.

Farokhmanesh averaged 16.5 points per game and 4.5 assists. He was the MVP of Region XI and the MVP of the Region XI tournament. Farokhmanesh was named to the All-tournament team at the national tournament. He will play in the NJCAA All-Star game in Phoenix, Ariz. in late April. Farokhmanesh has signed to continue his basketball and academic career at UNI.

Farokhmanesh led the Eagles to a 32-4 record and a third place finish at the national tournament.
