The 2008 Kirkwood Community College baseball team has started the season with a 20-10 record.
With Pre-Season All Americans Travis Bennett and Darin Spicer leading the team they have become more united and their consistency has improved.
Head coach John Lewis, who is in his 29th year, said, "I have seen this team grow from the start of the year and improve as individuals and as a team."
Luis Roman leads the team with 25 runs and Todd Stiles is leading with 33 hits and a .446 batting average.
After going 1-3 in their series against Iowa Central, Kirkwood has the chance later in the season to redeem its self against the seventh-ranked Tritons. The Eagles and Tritons will likely compete in the regional tournament for a world series berth in May.
Halfway through the season Kirkwood will now compete against NIACC, Upper Iowa, Muscatine, DMACC, Indian Hills and South Eastern Community College before heading to regional tournament in May.
