Spring sports update: Softball

Despite lots of rain, the Kirkwood Community College softball team has managed to play over half of their season schedule already. The Eagles are 16-14 overall and 6-6 in their conference.
The Eagles are batting .284 as a team. They are led by freshmen Abbey Miller, who is batting .397 and Kayla Streb who is batting .378. Cydney Green has collected 28 hits for the Eagles so far this season. Miller has 27. Currently four Eagles have one homerun a piece. Sheena Canady has stolen 11 bases for the Eagles.
Terra VanBuren has become Kirkwood's ace on the mound. She's leading the team in wins, with nine, and strikeouts with 84.
On April 19 the Eagles will face off with conference foe Iowa Central which is 33-5 overall and 10-2 in the conference.
First year head coach Joe Yegge and the Eagles will look to defend their regional title May 1-3 in Fort Dodge for a chance to head back to the national tournament.
