Holocaust survivor Miriam Kelemen Solis will speak Tuesday, April 17, at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids.
In her speech, scheduled for 11 a.m. in 234 Cedar Hall, Solis will describe her struggles of growing up in Hungary during World War II.
Solis is the author of “Goldie’s Story,” in which she recounts her attempts to survive famine, illness, bombs, prejudice and hatred.
Solis’ appearance is sponsored by the Thaler Holocaust Committee, the Kirkwood Foundation, Kirkwood Student Life, the Judeo-Christian Interfaith Council and the Department of Social Sciences and Career Options at Kirkwood.
Solis also will be speaking at other area colleges this month.
Her Kirkwood speech is open to the public.
