Technologically ableing disabled limbs for bolts

For the past six months, the American people have been shown commercial after commercial of presidential candidates, from Donald Trump to Bernie Sanders. But there are plenty of presidential candidates who are not shown on television or online. One of the most interesting unknown candidates is Zoltan Istvan, a member of the Transhumanist party.

Istvan is an American writer and futurist from California and has worked as a reporter for National Geographic and the Huffington Post. In 2014, Istvan announced he would be running for President of the United States. According to Istvan’s campaign website, his goals are to support American scientists and to “overcome human death and aging with 15-20 years”. Istvan’s plan includes raising the average human lifespan to at least 10,000 years. He plans to expand technology and safeguard it so that it cannot be abused by future generations.

Istvan’s website also states that his policies consist of expansion of technology and a pro-science culture, along with a flat tax for everyone, and the legalization of marijuana to help end the drug war. He also hopes to reboot the space program with an increase in government resources, and  toprovide free and  required education from preschool to college.

The Transhumanist party mainly focuses on a combination of government and science. According to his website, Istvan wants everyone to have an implanted cranial microchip in order to monitor each citizen’s health. The chip would alert emergency crews if it senses a drastic change in vitals that would require immediate medical attention. The chip wouldn’t be the only thing that citizens would have in their bodies.

Istvan also said he plans to eliminate disabilities with artificial limbs that would be connected to the nerves in the patient, but artificial limbs would not be for just those with disabilities. If someone were to want to make themselves stronger, they could have the option to replace limbs to improve strength and mobility.  Most of Istvan’s platform consists of improving human life. For instance, Istvan wants to spend money on fighting the war against cancer, diabetes and heart disease.

Istvan’s ideas and policies are definitely out of the norm when it comes to the average politician. Though his ideas may be a bit radical, his intentions are to improve mankind and make the world a better place. Istvan is very popular amongst the scientific community, but is unknown to the average American, which is why he is campaigning. He is also continuing to write for National Geographic to get his points across to the American people.
