The women ballers were at play while the rest of Kirkwood Community College was away for holiday break.

The women had a very active schedule during which they performed at a very high pace, according to the results of their match-ups. The Eagles went for nine wins versus only one defeat during the break. Their only defeat came at the hands of the top-ranked Illinois Central team from Peoria, IL, 73 to 58.

The ladies have risen from seventh in the nation prior to winter break to fourth in the nation, according to the latest NJCAA rankings.  The ladies were also in tournament play over the holidays, resulting in two Eagles being named to the all-tournament team.

According to an article posted on the KCC basketball website, “ The Eagles finished 2-1 over the weekend and lost in the final to Illinois Central College. In their first two match ups they handily defeated Schoolcraft College and Sauk Valley Community College. Caitlin Sudduth and Madison Wood were honored for their performances over the weekend and picked up All-Tournament Team awards.”

There were several victories over the break but one of note is the latest rivalry match-up with Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) in which the Eagles won convincingly, 72-57.  According to the stat line of the night, the ladies dominated all critical areas of the game.  The lady Eagles out-rebounded, out-shot, committed fewer turn-overs and dominated pace of play against DMACC.
