“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others”

Being a community college student at Kirkwood, I observed that the Community College Initiative Program not only helps to enhance an individual’s knowledge and professionalism but also helps the students from all over the world to serve the communities where they live.

The purpose though is that community service is needed everywhere. Focusing that community service is based on the acts performed by someone, with the purpose of helping or bringing benefits to his or her community. It is like the central point of a country, as there is a key importance on doing well for others.

Every country/nation wants its people to be disciplined and work for change. Community service comes in handy as it is the best way to inculcate this sense of responsibilities to individuals. Values such as humbleness, gratefulness, honesty, sincerity and respect are among the important virtues that one can acquire from helping the communities.

I have always wanted to serve my community especially in the field of education because education is a right denied to many children across my country, but the state of literacy is particularly dismal in the province where I live.

As much as 70 percent of girls drop out of school. Additionally, the statistics paint a bleak picture, with less than two percent of rural women educated and only 26 percent of females literate in the province. To cut the long argument in short, having seen the education system, which is, in fact, pursuing nothing other than few morsel of time pass activities.

Furthermore, the deteriorating situations and the paralyzed education system had directly pushed me up to serve my community. I planned to create an institution where my community might be geared toward imparting the latest skills and knowledge and allowing them to brush up their knowledge about this modern world.

As a student I had many difficulties to face, on the peak being the financials. However, I mustered up my courage, I pursued the path that was taken. I decided to scarify my time and my future to create successful leaders for my community.

Moreover, I created my school in 2009 named Balochistan Grammar School Kharan, for primary and middle school-age children with the slogan “Join us to serve the people.” Balochistan is one of four provinces in Pakistan and is located in the southwestern region of the country.

In addition, this positive move produced much more fruits than was expected. I ended the first academic year by having more than 150 students, which was not only a success but it filled me up with pride and courage.

No support was called but I did not lose my courage. I pursued hard work, knowing that the correct way depends on hard work and sincerity.

I worked day and night to promote this esteemed objective that was and is the biggest objective in my life. In conclusion, the primary school qualified as a high school after two years of its creation where recently more than 400 students are enrolled and getting quality education.
