The Allsop Computer Lab, located on the first floor of Nielsen Hall at Kirkwood Community College, offers a quiet area for students to do research, complete school work and get technical support.

According to Lab Coordinator Kathy Baker, “We offer four student services in one lab; open computer lab, student help desk, EagleCard office and online application support.”

She added that the lab contains 105 PC’s and four Macs. It also has a color printer, 3-D printer, regular printer and multifunctional printer, along with two scanners.

Baker said the lab is an open computer lab that offers an area for students to study as well as get help with technical questions.

The student help desk offers support for resetting passwords, helping with Talon and e-mail issues and answering questions about EagleNet, according to Baker.

Students can visit the lab for other technical assistance as well. Baker said, “We help students print quotas, install their student e-mail to their phone as well as download and install Office 365.”

The EagleCard office, located within the Allsop Computer Lab, is where students can go to get a new student ID or a replacement, purchase a medical badge,  or purchase a meal plan.

The lab requires students to check in by scanning their EagleCard when they enter and exist so students should have their card each time they visit the lab.

Baker said, “It is a requirement for head count to see how much usage the lab is getting.”

The lab also offers the chance for students to apply for a Work Study job. Baker stated that she hires about 10-15 Work Study students for the year to keep things running.

If students need help with any of the resources offered or a quiet environment then Baker said this is the place to go to. She added, “If students need help with Talon, printing, password problems or a quiet place to study then come here. We have installed most of the curriculum and we always have room. We are always here to help.”
