Surprisingly explosive new 'Kong' movie

“Kong: Skull Island” is a new take on the classic character King Kong and tells a different version of the story. Those who have seen the three-hour version released in 2005 will be happy to know the most 2017 recent release is just two hours in length.

However, they will also be in for a surprise, as this version of the story is quite different from the original 1933 and 2005 movies.

The story begins in 1944 during World War II when two soldiers crash land onto a mysterious island. One soldier is revealed to be an American and the other is revealed to be Japanese. The two start to fight and are then frightened by a huge creature that the audience can’t quite see.

Twenty-nine years later in 1973, Captain James Conrad, played by Tom Hiddleston, is hired by the government to lead an expedition to map out an island no one has yet to explore.

Along with a military squad led by Preston Packard and a group of scientists, Conrad and company set out to map out the island. Little do they expect for their entire helicopter squad to be swatted down upon touchdown.

Most of the squad is slaughtered by the mysterious creature from before, this time revealed to be King Kong himself.

The rest of the movie is then focused on exploring the island and finding options for getting away from the island.

The particularly impressive special effects will draw viewers in as this modern take on the King Kong character unfolds with great performances by the actors, especially Tom Hiddleston and Samuel L. Jackson.

The story is not only compelling but it also sets itself apart from the other King Kong movies with a different storyline than the past three films.

This is definitely a film worth seeing, especially if viewers can see it while it’s still in the theaters to get the most out of the effects on the big screen.
