Career Services joins Central College Network

In middle December, Career Services sent an email introducing students and alumni to Kirkwood Community College’s participation in College Central Network.

To meet on campus and community needs with job searches, resume building and academic and career exploration, some important changes have been made and have yet to come in the Career Services department, located in Iowa Hall.

“Kirkwood joining and utilizing College Central Network is just one step in making job seeking and career planning resources and services to help students, alumni and the community as readily available and as effective as possible,” said Danielle Ebaugh, Career Services supervisor.

“There is a continuous and increased demand for services, which not only introduces new tools, collaborations and partnerships but also means our department is experiencing historic growth and making changes to accommodate those needs,” Ebaugh added.

In addition to joining College Central Network, Career Services also recently welcomed two new members to their team.

Lexi Fields and Shauna Rasmussen joined the department in December as Career Services coordinators.

Morris Pounds will stay on part-time as a career counselor after 37 years with Kirkwood. Haley Flores will also be with the team temporarily as a career services intern.

Ebaugh said she and the team will work together to build relationships, collaborate efforts, have clear points of contact, work with faculty, students and the community to support and promote available services and resources and are even working on a mission statement for the first time in department history.

“We are passionate about what we do and we are all working together to achieve the same goals. We are proud of what we have to offer and each of us are dedicated to developing our vision,” Ebaugh said.

She added that Career Services would like to remind everyone that the services, workshops and resources available are free of charge to students, faculty, alumni and the community.

More changes are in the works and will soon be available, such as career fairs, presentations and referrals that will be a collaboration with other departments and faculty to allow as much opportunity as possible to take some of the stress off sometimes lengthy and long tasks that often come with putting oneself out there in the professional world, according to Ebaugh.
