Raptors invaded Cedar Hall on Tuesday, Nov. 6, alongside Shawn Hawks with the Iowa Raptor Project and Brittany Bandi, a Parks and Natural Resources major at Kirkwood Community College for a information session hosted by the Sustainability Club.

Hawks and Bandi introduced the birds three birds and their importance.

Raptorial birds are defined as preying upon other animals and adapted for seizing prey, with the bill or claws. Eagles, hawks and falcons are all  categorized as types of raptors and many of them can be found on the endangered spices list.

Hawks explained, “For the most part populations have been declining and it can really be seen up in the Midwest Canada, the new England states, the rocky mountains and is based on breeding bird surveys in bird conservation regions.”
