The promise of real-life superheroes in recent movie proves disappointing

Movie review

The film “Glass” boasts a vast array of actors that support a broad claim: real-life superheroes.

The premise is original in the sense that the factors played into the movie counter the original intent, meaning that frequently throughout the movie characters are told that superheroes don’t exist and that they are just insane.

The movie begins with an epic fight between The Beast (James McAvoy), an alternate personality from the 2016 movie Split and The Watchman, Bruce Willis’ character from the 2000 film Unbreakable.

The fight is epic and concluded only to be followed by an extremely dull follow-up. The part of the film that should build to the all-around climax, in the end, does an inferior job of creating tension.

The alliances and thought processes are not surprising or original in the least but are centered more on character development.

Character development that has had two movies already to build. The climax does end with a terrific bang however as The Beast and Mr. Glass (Samuel L. Jackson) team up to fight The Watchman and reveal themselves to the world.

Just as any good M. Night Shyamalan movie does, it ends with a twist... and then another twist and then waits for it... another twist.

The ending is still, however, giving a possible prelude to another film and reminding us that we all may be heroes if we choose to be.
