Latest Marvel installment marvelously sets up Avengers: End Game

The latest addition to the Marvel movie franchise is “Captain Marvel.”

The film stars actress Brie Larson as the iconic Carol Danvers, whose alter ego is the title of the movie.

Momentum builds early and the movie starts off strong but offers little character development at first. Then things kick into action and never stop.

Character development is the theme and once again Marvel does an excellent job of altering but still keeping true to the comic book origins of the movies.

Traditionally the role of Mar-Vell, Veers’ role model, is played by a man but in the movie, it is played by the marvelous Annette Bening.

This is one of the few changes from the comic to the movie, however; is definitely a good one that adds to the strong feminine tones of the film.

One of the other differences is that of the Skrull-Kree war that “Captain Marvel” is known for is not so cut and dry.

In the comic, the war has good and bad people and acts on both sides whereas the movie leads us to believe that one of them is evil but this is not the place for spoilers.

As things develop, we meet Agent Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg), this time years earlier than in previous movies.

Their additions to the film offers new insights into the characters and their importance to the Marvel Universe.

The movie leads toward a significant revelation for Captain Marvel that changes the way our latest hero views her world.

The movie ultimately leads to an epic climax when Marvel regains her memory and finds the real villain of the story.

With her costar Lashana Lynch playing the role of Maria Rambeau, she fights a fantastic battle in the sky and brings home the epic ending for the film.

For those Marvel fans who can’t get enough, the movie delivers still.

Some may remember the last scene of Avengers: Infinity War ending with Nick Fury sending a message on an upgraded pager.

This leads to one of the post-credit scenes for Captain Marvel and leaves us with one question.

How will our new superhero save her long-lost friend Nick Fury?
