As the semester winds down, the Library Services department is here for you, the Kirkwood student. Our mission is to make sure that you are successful as you complete final exams, write those last research papers, and for some of you, prepare for graduation.

Toward this goal, the Cedar Rapids Library will once again host Exam Cram with Tutoring Services, extend library hours and has initiated a new laptop check-out program. And for all students preparing to graduate, we have a new career database called Brainfuse to help you with those very important cover letters and resumes.

Exam Cram, this spring, will be held on Thursday, April 25. As in the past, the library will serve cookies, and beverages, host therapy dogs and provide free chair massages by a certified therapist. Tutoring services will offer extra academic help, as well as host their annual “seed planting” activity.

Both locations will have door prizes, popcorn and blood pressure checks. To check out all the activities and times, go to www.kirkwood.edu/examcram.

Extended library hours will begin on Sunday, April 25. The library will remain open on Sunday evenings until 10 p.m. and weeknights until midnight through Thursday, May 9.

If you need a laptop to take to class or write that final paper, the library now allows laptops to be checked out and leave the library premises.

A protective case and charger are also provided. All you need is your EagleCard and a signed user agreement. Laptops must be returned 30 minutes before the library closes for the day.

And finally, the library has a new database called Brainfuse. This database provides multiple services. Any student can submit a composition or paper and receive personalized feedback within 24 hours. Job seekers will find assistance through online resources and LIVE job coaches to help with resumes, cover letters and interview skills. Veterans have additional aid with a LIVE navigator to help them access all the community resources and VA benefits available to them.
