Clear the mess, end the stress

Classes are underway and it is that time in the semester when the workload may seem like too much. Stress is high and it may be getting harder to fulfill obligations.  Stress is something that is going on for almost every student at most times of the day.

Students can possibly manage their stress or even eliminate it in a few ways. One way to reduce stress is to find the source and see what can resolve it.   Whether it is too much information at once, deadlines or too many activities happening, a planner to write responsibilities in is a great tool.  It can help organize thoughts and to help remember things like homework assignments and any other important dates.

Once everything is written down, it is suggested to find out what should be top priority and do it. This does not mean that if a huge project is the most important thing then a student should spend the entire day doing it. Instead, break it down into more feasible tasks and complete a few, then move on to another assignment or errand.

It is very important to know when there is too much to do and how to deal with that situation.  Some activities may need discarded because they are not the most important at that time.  This does not mean that the activity should never be added back into the schedule, just not until there is more free time.

A healthy diet with exercise can help relieve some stress.  The healthier people eat the better off they will be.  Exercise helps release endorphins that relieve stress.  Blood is pumping to the brain and that will help a student in the end while he or she is studying.  Along this note, students need to make sure that there's time for fun. Kirkwood offers many clubs and organizations that could be fun for the right person.  An athletic person may want to consider joining intramurals and an anime junkie could possibly join the anime club. Even just having a night in with friends could be the little break a student needs.

Do not underestimate the power of having some friends around to help keep one another accountable for the work that needs done.  Those friends can be there to vent to each other and to celebrate when it all works out in the end.
