With the new semester underway, some students find it beneficial to start with good study habits. One of the problems  students face is finding a reliable time and place to study for their classes.

Everybody has their own preference when it comes to study environments. Some students prefer background noises, while others need silence. Some want a comfortable bench, while others would rather sit at a desk. Kirkwood Community College has a lot of different places that can serve as a perfect location to study. With all these possibilities, it's not difficult to find a study spot that works for everyone.

Students who prefer to study with a computer at their fingertips and if the occasional chatter of other students doesn't bother them, they may find the Allsop computer lab on the first floor of Nielsen Hall to be a wonderful place to prepare for their next exam.

If students would rather have a more comfortable spot, the campus has an alternative for them. Throughout the halls of Kirkwood's main campus are several comfortable chairs and benches. If the noise produced by students passing in the halls isn't a distraction, this could be a good place to study.

One of Kirkwood's reference librarians Sarah Uthoff said the second floor of the library is a great spot to study if students need complete silence to maintain their focus. The second floor of the library offers an environment that is free of all distractions. This section of the library is supposed to remain silent and there is no food or drink allowed, explained the librarian.

The second floor of the library also has study rooms available for group studies or projects. Another librarian, Sue Miller mentioned that these rooms are not soundproof so group noise levels will have to be controlled.

In addition to these study places there are also tables and chairs available in the newly remodeled Linn Hall lobby.
