'Hey Ya' They're coming back

Popular music artists have the tendency to fade out of our minds if they don't remain active. Whether they go on hiatus or they have complications with the logistics of releasing a new album, artists can create an image to the public that they have disappeared off the face of the earth.

Hype is usually built-up in the anticipation of the return of a favorite artist. With a lot of anticipation it is difficult to not feel a little disappointment when the hyped-up artist releases new music. You can only hope that what they release is on par with their previous efforts.

Outkast is the hip-hop duo consisting of André  "André 3000" Benjamin and Antwan "Big Boi" Patton, who are most famous for their songs "Hey Ya!" and "Ms. Jackson". Their latest album released was "Idlewild" in 2006. "Idlewild" didn't receive as much publicity as their preceding album, which makes it seem as though they haven't released an album for a decade. After being weeded out by other artists, Outkast plans to perform at more than 40 different festivals this year.

Despite releasing an EP in 2010 titled "Everything Comes and Goes" and continuously recording music, Michelle Branch has achieved an artist-of-the-past image, even though she never went away. Her last album that was highly marketed through the media was "Hotel Paper" released in 2003. This may have been her latest LP released but it was not the most recent album Branch recorded. According to "West Coast Time" is an album that was to be released in 2013 but they were misinformed as the album hasn't made its way to the shelves yet.

Indie band Modest Mouse released their latest LP in 2007 titled "We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank". This album not only expanded their fan base but it left older fans craving more. This technically was not the latest release by Modest Mouse as they released their EP "No One's First and You're Next" in 2009. They may have not released new music in awhile but they never lost their presence with their fans.

They continued to tour up to this year and now are in preparation for a new release. One thing can be noted, this album has a lot of hype built-up due to the connection they continued to have with their fans since their release in 2007.

It's difficult to predict when an artist is going to release new music that doesn't disappointment but when they come back into the limelight, they have the tendency to build-up anticipation for a new album that can be cherished. In any case, especially if they release a disappointment, it helps to know  their older albums that are admired are still available.
