The only thing that has been able to slow down the Kirkwood Community College softball team this season is rain delays. The Eagles' last 29 opponents have all come up short.

Kirkwood climbed to no. 3 in the nation and to 36-3 overall while remaining undefeated in the ICCAC. The 29 game win streak is the highest in the ICCAC this season.

Des Moines Area Community College travels to Cedar Rapids today and Kirkwood will put its win-streak on the line. DMACC, no. 7 in the nation, holds a 29-1 overall record and is also undefeated in the ICCAC. The double-header starts at 1 p.m. It is Kirkwood's last home game of the season.

A meeting between the teams scheduled for April 18 was postponed due to rain.

The Eagles scored a season high 21 runs on April 20 in a road game against Iowa Lakes Community College. Sophomores Haylee Krack, Kayla Tatge and Kristen Winter each had a homerun in the win. Nine players recorded RBIs, led by Krack, who had five.

The Eagles defeated Iowa Lakes again in five innings in the second game, 13-2. On April 23, Kirkwood picked up two wins against Ellsworth Community College.

Tatge has extended her homerun tally to 20, placing her first in the nation and four ahead of three players tied for second with 16.

On April 13 and 14 Kirkwood outscored its four opponents 36 runs to zero. In a 20-0 win against Kishwaukee College, Tatge scored five RBIs as the Eagles won in five innings.

Freshman pitcher Amber Logemann is in first place in the nation for strikeouts per game, averaging 14.6. Logemann's record is 9-2. Freshmen Shyanne Saladino and Sam Belz are each 7-0 as pitchers for the Eagles.

The Eagles will make their run into the post-season at the regional tournament, which begins on May 3.
