The Kirkwood Community College softball team is on a roll.

After winning 21 games in a row, the Eagles improved to 28-3 overall for the season and 12-0 in the ICCAC. The Eagles are in first place in the conference.

For eight games in a row between March 30 and April 7, Kirkwood didn't allow a single run to be scored.

Kirkwood leads the NJCAA Division II softball league in total homeruns for the season with 54. Sophomore Kayla Tatge leads the nation for individuals with 17. Sophomore Haylee Krack leads the team in RBIs for the season with 40 and has also hit 13 homeruns. Sophomore Kristen Winter and freshman Krysta Tutsch each have 37 RBIs.

In an 8-0 win on April 8 against Mount Mercy University, Tatge broke Kirkwood's career homerun record, moving up to 37. The previous record was set last year by Nicole Fisher. The Eagles triumphed 18-0 in the second game of the double-header against Mount Mercy.

Freshman pitcher Amber Logemann set a new Kirkwood record for strikeouts in a game with 19 on March 30 against Southwestern Community College. With 165 strikeouts for the season, Logemann is second in the nation.

Logemann is the Eagles' leading pitcher for the season with eight wins. Freshmen Shyanne Saladino and Sam Belz have each notched six wins.

Kirkwood faced regional foe and no. 9 in the nation Des Moines Area Community College on April 10 after the press deadline.
