"The Core is about serving God with your best friends but also reaching out to other students at the same time," said Peter Moore, Core Ministry student leader at Kirkwood Community College.

Every Tuesday in room 343  Cedar Hall students have the opportunity to participate in musical worship and prayer and hear a lesson taught by Pastor Pete Grose.

"Students get the opportunity to grow in sharing the love of Christ with other students who are wanting to know what that's like," said Grose. After listening to the lesson for the day, group members gather for lunch in the Café.

The Core welcomes students of all different backgrounds and beliefs to attend meetings. Grose said he provides oversight to The Core Ministry and also holds a position as pastor at New Life Community Church in Marion.

In addition to Tuesday meetings, The Core also holds weekly Ultimate Frisbee games along with other monthly activities, such as movie nights and grill outs.

Core Officer Nicci Sorensen said one of her favorite things about being part of The Core is the chance to see and meet Christians who she would not otherwise know.

In addition to having a campus ministry program at Kirkwood, The Core also holds meetings and events at Mt. Mercy University. Grose said that students who are busy during activity hour but would like to be a part of The Core still have opportunities to participate.

Prayer time is offered every Monday at 7 a.m. in The Café. For more information interested students can go to www.thecorecr.com or e-mail thecore@gmail.com.
