Paintball made a splash among Kirkwood Community College students this spring.

According to Brett Baumgart, Kirkwood’s intramurals coordinator, this was the first time Kirkwood has offered paintball as an intramural sport.

“I chose it as I was looking for something different that I thought the students would really enjoy,” Baumgart said.

Games were hosted April 5 at Adventure Park Paintball in Cedar Rapids.

Matches in the indoor facility were arranged so that eight teams, each made up of five players, were divided into two divisions. Games were played in a best-of-three tournament style, with each team participating in a minimum of three games. The top two teams from each division advanced to semifinals, where two teams proceeded to a best two-out-of-three finals match.
